New Mahindra XUV500 Expectations
The SUV segment is on the boom. Mahindra is one of the largest and most popular manufacturers of SUVs in India. The company is set to launch many new products in 2021/2022. The company has already been spotted testing new SUVs a couple of times now. While the launch was expected in Q1 2021, the global shortage of semi-conductors can postpone things further.

Engine and Performance
The new Mahindra XUV500 will come with two new engines – 141,6 kW, 2.0L direct-injection turbo petrol and 137,95 kW, 2.2L mHawk diesel. Both the engines will be made available with two gearboxes – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic sourced from Aisin. The engines also will undergo special tuning to perform better in the XUV500.

ADAS and Safety
Safety is a major SUV buying parameter for current Group 1 Mahindra buyers. People are slowly shifting from, "Kitna deti hai?" to "Kitni safe hai?" This is better for the consumer as well as the manufacturer. An autonomous driving system which is present in the international car market for more than a decade will be finally available soon mainstream in India. Major interior change on the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be the radar-based ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) that might include assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, frontal collision warning and more. The MG Gloster was one of the first cars in India to provide this feature.
.
Connected Car Tech
Connected Car tech in 2021 is no longer a luxury feature and has become a necessity for many people. Mahindra is also expected to launch BlueSense with the XUV500 which will be one of the company’s first connected tech cars. While SUVs made by Mahindra prefer practicality over showmanship, the inclusion of modern features is a welcome addition.
.
Dimensions and Off-road
The new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be longer and wider compared to the ongoing model. A better platform and engine will lead to a better off-road feature of the car. The new car is also expected to feature similar dimensions to the Tata Safari with both 6/7-seater options.
